service

“You do not attract what you want, you attract what you are.”

- Dr. Wayne Dyer

Hi + Welcome Back!

The quote above by Dr. Wayne Dyer really stuck with me because it reinforces the idea that if you want to attract love, peace and ease… you must be those things. You must embody them. Likewise, if you want trouble, drama, anger, doubt… yep, you guessed it.

Yesterday I mentioned that we’re going to be connecting our goals (in this case… to detox doubt) to a bigger purpose. It’s not enough to put something on a to-do list or say, “I will do this one day.” You have to make many micro-shifts in support of this goal every day. And, service is like the train tracks that help you get there. Service is love in action.

Service Is Love In Action

I just love this notion and if you are a mama I don’t have to convince you of this! And we’re going to talk about the different types of service in a second… But let’s talk first about the clarity that comes from service to others.

Nothing gets you out of your own drama better or faster than helping someone else. It helps you cultivate presence, it makes you feel good, and it shifts your perspective.

Service to others is really more about you, than them. Think about how great you feel after you help someone. Think about how much you forget the thing that was troubling you while you were busy making some else’s life easier. Pouring yourself into service creates space and time for a big shift.

But here’s the thing…

Service isn’t only about what you give to others. Service is how you take care of yourself. When I said service is love in action I also meant that juicy, feel-good, big self-compassionate love that we so often deny ourselves. I don’t need to tell you that you can’t pour from an empty cup, that’s old news! So ask yourself daily the following:

Are these words serving me?

Is my sleep routine serving me?

Is the way I’m using my time serving me?

Are these thoughts + Actions truly serving me?

Is the food that I’m putting into my body serving me?

don’t stop asking if it’s working for you (and Please know that it’s okay to change your mind.)

Meditation for Service-Backed Desires that Rock.

Dr. Wayne Dyer said: you don’t attract what you want, you attract what you are. So what are you? What do you want to be? What word best describes the future version of yourself? How do you want to feel? How can you use service to get you to that state of experiencing how you want to feel?

Let’s take five breaths in stillness as you contemplate that calm, strong, kind, and grounded version of you. What is she doing? Who is in her life? How does she speak? How does she react? How does she show up for others? How does she show up for herself?

Homework for today:

Who are three people you can reach out to today (text, phone call, or email) who would really appreciate your help with something? Even a simple text that says, “thinking about you!” can change the course of someone’s day. Your task is to connect with these people entirely on their terms. Make it about them, how you can help them, how much you appreciate them, and how happy you are that they’re in your life. Next, watch that wave of love come right back to you. It’s pretty great! Tomorrow we’ll talk about the greatest practice to remove resistance + doubt which is of course, love.

Takeaways

  1. Service is love in action.

  2. That means for self-love, too. So ask yourself if what you’re doing, how you’re speaking, and the way in which you’re taking care of yourself is in the highest service to you.

  3. Text, call, tag, do something to let your people know you love them. That love will come flowing right back to you. It always does.

Good job. tomorrow we’ll make a real love potion! xoxo
